Usually the main reasons for Americans to leave any country in Europe is first, the culture, then the benefits of not having an "all-in-one" place. When I was living in Genoa, Italy my sister came from Connecticut to visit me. She was surprise that there wasn't a Walgreens or CVS. She turned into one of those infamous ugly Americans complaining about how easy they had it back home. Definitely living in another country is not for every American. The first thing when moving into another country is you have to blend in with the culture. Go with the flow and don't act entitled just because you are from America.

Great video thanks for posting. I’m late to this, but I’m 53 from UK. Will retire in a couple of years and weighing up whether this will be in Spain or Portugal. The ease of visa and excellent tax advantages of the NHR are swinging it for me. I’ll be living off my investment portfolio and to be able to draw on this tax free for 10 years means I’ll have a much more comfortable standard of living in Portugal than I could have in Spain.

This things happen anywhere where americans go to : México, Costa Rica, Panama, Belize, Ecuador and so on...locals who own properties they know they can get the money from americans This phenomenon makes local people's to end up moving from their land they have been there all their life's, because they can't afford to live there anymore.... So yes, americans cause places to get too expensive

We use Fidelity to manage some of our investments (<20%). We meet with them quarterly (or when we need advice) and we use them to learn, reduce our tax burden, and bounce ideas off. They have help us with an inheritance, different retirement scenarios, and stock bonuses. We went from investing 10% to 50% of our income. As much as we read investment books it never gave us the support we needed. Eventually we will move out of a managed account put for novice investors it isn't always a bad thing when it's with an ethical financial advisor.

None of the financial videos of this era using "the average return of the stock market" number are going to age well. The average they are using is in the past, and they include three humongous fed and fiscal interventions. We sit here today with asset prices well beyond the unimaginable levels of 2000 and 2008. Can the government and fed do the same thing again when this falls apart? Maybe, however I'm skeptical given the underlying inflation picture we have now vs. then.
